From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.”
Our Lord Jesus announced the welcome good news of the arrival of God’s new society. It’s a society in which the Lord Jesus Christ provides for our peace, joy, safety, value, meaning, purpose, well-being, and deep soul satisfaction. The gospel is the good news that the living God forgives sin and welcomes anyone who wishes into His new society through faith in the sinless life, sacrificial death, and bodily resurrection of Jesus Christ.
“Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you tithe mint and dill and cumin, and have neglected the weightier matters of the law: justice and mercy and faithfulness. These you ought to have done, without neglecting the others."
Biblical social justice is the practical application of the living God’s clearly expressed care and concern for the lives of the poor, vulnerable, and minority. New City Sacramento is committed to welcoming, working among, and advocating for the marginalized as an act of ongoing worship and devotion to the beauty of God’s character, the command of His word, and the example of our Lord Jesus Christ.
“I do not ask for these only, but also for those who will believe in me through their word, that they may all be one, just as you, Father, are in me, and I in you, that they also may be in us, so that the world may believe that you have sent me."
Redemptive ethnic unity is the tangible unity God has called His people in Christ to experience and enjoy across ethnic & socio-economic lines within the local and regional church
Redemptive - It’s a unity grounded in the cross of Jesus Christ, pursued as an aspect of our ongoing growth in Christ for the purpose of promoting and displaying the beauty, power, and wisdom of the gospel.
Ethnic - It’s a unity that intentionally crosses ethnic lines.
Unity - It is in fact an actual Spirit-filled unity that flows from the reality that those in Christ are members of one body and thus not a man-made diversity.
"May he have dominion from sea to sea, and from the River to the ends of the earth!"
New City Sacramento partners with the mission arm of the PCA (Mission to the World, https://www.mtw.org/ ) to spread the news of Christ’s worldwide rule of peace, justice and righteousness.
"Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.”
Discipleship is the ongoing and lifelong process of having the Spirit transform our lives from the inside out to reflect the character of our Lord Jesus Christ. Discipleship occurs as we worship, pray, serve, and spend time in redemptive fellowship with God’s people.
"Shout for joy in the LORD, O you righteous! Praise befits the upright. Give thanks to the LORD with the lyre; make melody to him with the harp of ten strings! Sing to him a new song; play skillfully on the strings, with loud shouts."
The joyful worship of the living God is the primary reason we were created and redeemed by our Lord Jesus Christ. Our aim and prayer is to have a weekly corporate worship experience that’s joyful, Christ-centered, participatory, and biblically grounded.
